The Colts have made a lot of signings in free agency and have addressed a lot of needs. I breakdown the position that needs the most attention (i.e draft picks, free agent signings) and the ones that need the least.Offensive GuardDonald Thomas is a solid addition, but he's nothing special. He should be a fine guard though, and I doubt many will have to worry about him. The problem is the other guys. Joe Reitz, and I've been saying this for the last few years, is a short term solution. He's not a longterm starter. I believe his time as a starter has run out after a dismal season last year. I saw him get torn up by Karl Klug (average defensive tackle) from Tennessee. Ouch! The Colts need another guard and they need to find it in the draft or in free agency, however the draft is the better place to look. This year's class is superb, with standouts in the first round, and starters going into the 4th round. However, next year, I shouldn't see any returning Colts start...
BEST OF MAXIM
In the Colts roller-coaster NFL history, they've picked in the top 5 of the Draft an incredible 24 times. While some were the result of trades, many were from just plain bad seasons. The Colts have had some resounding success with these picks, picking up some current and future Hall of Fame players, but there is one pick that stands out more than any other; one pick that plants...
Colts owner Jim Irsay confirmed that they are still looking to bring in another wide receiver at some point this offseason.
“We want to add another wide receiver if we can,” said Irsay during a phone call from the owners meetings, via the Indianapolis Star.
Irsay generated a lot of speculation after he tweeted that they were close to reaching a deal with an available wide receiver...
The Indianapolis Colts jumped at the chance to get a veteran backup for Andrew Luck.
On Tuesday, this year's busiest team in free agency signed former Tennessee quarterback Matt Hasselbeck to a contract. Terms were not immediately released.
Indy needed a veteran backup after Drew Stanton left for Arizona, where he was reunited with Colts offensive coordinator Bruce Arians....
Indianapolis has signed free agent defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin and is bringing back offensive guard Joe Reitz.
The Colts made the announcements Wednesday afternoon.
Franklin, who is 6-foot-1, 315 pounds, is a 10-year veteran who played most recently with San Diego last year. He made nine starts for the Chargers and finished with 23 tackles. He was originally drafted by Baltimore...
The Colts have agreed in principle with nose tackle Aubrayo Franklin.Aubrayo Franklin is a veteran in this league. He's been around for 10 years, and has a lot of experience in this league. He's a big guy, weighing 317 pounds and has pretty good athleticism to go along with his size. Now he's a bit older, so his role should be more of a mentor to guys like Josh Chapman...
Matt Hasselbeck started his career as a backup to Brett Favre. He could end it being the backup to Andrew Luck.
Less than 24 hours after being released by the Tennessee Titans, the 37-year-old quarterback signed with division rival Indianapolis. Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
It looks like a smart move for the Colts, who lost last year's backup, free agent...
The Indianpolis Colts were the darling to the 2012 NFL Season, going from the worst record in football to 11-5 and a playoff appearance.
Andrew Luck was a big part of the turnaround as was General Manager Ryan Grigson, who was deservedly named Executive of the Year. Drafting Luck alone would have made any draft class deserve an “A,” but Grigson proceeded to hit on players such...
Via NESN :
When the supplemental draft picks were dished out on Sunday, we finally figured out which team will be the lucky recipients of Mr. Irrelevant -- the Indianapolis Colts.
This is the second consecutive year the Colts will be picking last in the NFL draft. In 2012, they took Northern Illinois quarterback Chandler Harnish with the 253rd pick. This year, the last pick will...
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Matt Hasselbeck started his career as a backup to Brett Favre. He could end it being the backup to Andrew Luck.
According to Pro Football Talk, the Pittsburgh Steelers are one of three teams interested in free agent outside linebackers Elvis Dumervil and Dwight Freeney.
This isn't the first time we have heard that the Steelers have an interest in Dumervil, but it is the first time that Freeney's name has been linked to Pittsburgh.
Mike Florio reports that Dumervil’s decision is...
The Patriots had Dwight Freeney and John Abraham in for a visit just about a week ago today. The visits didn't result in any signings, and both moved on to meet with the Denver Broncos today. Neither of those visits ended in any commitments either, as it's likely the Broncos were just doing their due diligence in case they lose pass rusher Elvis Dumervil. Dumvervill, of course...
