There are still more than 40 days until the Washington Commanders kick off their 2022 regular season by hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. Head coach Ron Rivera said during Friday's training camp that he is already ruling out one of the team's best defenders due to injury though.
Rivera: "Going into the season, he will not play the first game, let me put it that way. He will not be ready for Week 1."

Only hours earlier on Friday, Rivera told Washington, D.C.-based 106.7 The Fan that he expected Young to miss "a little bit of time" at the start of the season. The 2020 Defensive Rookie of the Year suffered a torn ACL during Week 10 last season.
Before going down with the season-ending injury, Young collected 26 tackles, four quarterback hits, two forced fumbles and 1.5 sacks.
