Found June 17, 2013 on NFL Trade Rumors:
ESPN New York’s Rich Cimini was told by an opposing personnel executive that the Jets should be concerned with recently signed tight end Kellen Davis this season. “I think it’s a lot like [David] Garrard… He’ll be fine in a workout, moving and running, but taking a hit, the grind of training camp and a full, 16-game season will be the litmus tests… I’d watch him closely to see if they manage his reps and practice time.” Kellen Winslow, who has had at least five knee surgeries dating back to 2005, has been on a league-wide tour the last few years of his professional career. When the Cleveland Browns traded him to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in February 2009, Winslow instantly became an offensive weapon once again for Tampa averaging nearly 73 catches a year for his three seasons there. Things got sour in May 2012 before the team traded him to the Seattle Seahawks, who would end up waiving him by the end of summer. The New England Patriots decided to gamble on Winslow as insurance to Rob...

New York Jets – A Closer Look At Tight End Kellen Winslow Jr

Despite a report from the New York Jets beat, namely Rich Cimini and his unnamed sources that questioned the signing of a former first round pick, at a position the Jets are woefully thin at…we at TOJ felt it was time to give an unbiased view of Kellen Winslow Jr. College Career Kellen WInslow Jr, the son of Hall of Fame Tight End Kellen Winslow Sr, was a member of the Miami Hurricanes...

Meet the Jets: Kellen Winslow Jr.

The New York Jets may have landed a play-making tight end to fill the void left by the recently departed Dustin Keller, but Kellen Winslow Jr.'s character issues and injury concerns have scared off general managers across the league. Find out why Gang Green took a chance on the troubled tight end and meet the man behind the facemask.

Bleacher Report: Dee Milliner is not replacing Revis

Erik Frenz of BleacherReport.com put out a great article today, discussing why Jets CB Dee Milliner is not stepping into 'shoes to fill.'  Prehaps my favorite snippit: Whoever fills that spot has big shoes to fill: Cromartie himself set a lofty standard for that spot. As Cromartie could tell you—or, for that matter, anyone who has played the role of No. 2 cornerback...

Jets’ Santonio Holmes questionable for Week 1

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes missed most of last season due to a Lisfranc fracture, and the injury could continue to impact his 2013 campaign. Holmes told reporters recently – including ESPN New York – that his target date for return is the first day of training camp, but he added that this is likely a little overly ambitious. For this reason, and because it...

Santonio Holmes’ Lisfranc Injury Was Most Severe Kind

New York Jets wide receiver Santonio Holmes will probably miss all of training camp with a Lisfranc injury that kept him out nearly all of last season. Holmes revealed to ESPN New York that his Lisfranc fracture was diagnosed as a Grade 4 injury, which is the most serious kind. He had a joint separation and a muscle tear in the middle of his foot.  A plate was removed in a March...

Antonio Cromartie: I Can Be, But Don’t Need To Be, The Best Corner In NFL

I know the title of this post is confusing and probably will lead to Antonio Cromartie receiving some backlash for these comments. Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie is maturing, and with that he’s becoming a leader, and a team guy.  Darrelle Revis is gone, and Cromartie is the best defensive player on the team now. Cromartie for his part thinks he could be the best corner in the...

Tim Tebow Gets the Last Laugh on the New York Jets

It's been a heck of a year for young Tim Tebow. He never really got the chance to play, got passed over for the No. 3 guy after the team finally benches Mark Sanchez, and eventually gets cut. Rex Ryan and the New York Jets organization really pulled the wool over his eyes by making him--and the rest of us--believe that he was going to be a secret weapon. That's okay...

Braylon, Brandon, and Ben: The Jets Veteran Wide Receiver Question

Image Credits: SB Nation, US Presswire, Associated Press Please join us in welcoming our newest writer, Jason Astafan (@murse13), to the OJT staff.  I would love to get a look at the paper the New York Jets Depth Chart is written on—I mean the official copy. Under wide receiver, it must look like swiss cheese with all the holes at the position. With Santonio Holmes...

Jets' wideouts need to find their hands by camp

The New York Jets' offense was an absolute disaster last season, and 2013 could be more of the same if the wide receivers don't get it together.By all accounts, including the coaches', Gang Green's wideouts had a major case of the dropsies last week, something head coach Rex Ryan clearly was discouraged with. "You're an NFL player," Ryan told the media...

Coach's Corner: Strickland on Cro's Cousin

Marcus Cromartie's surname helped him get on the radar of NFL scouts, but it won't win him a roster spot in San Diego. The cousin of the more heralded Antonio Cromartie, Marcus looks to beat the odds and stick as an UDFA. For more on Marcus and his quest, we check in with Wisconsin assistant coach Ben Strickland.
