Linebacker Colin McCarthy is expected to miss his ninth game of the season and fifth this year because of a concussion suffered in the Tennessee Titans' first meeting with the Jacksonville Jaguars. McCarthy, who had been expected to be one of the Titans defensive stars, had already missed four games with a high ankle sprain suffered in the season opener against the New England Patriots. “It's not the way I wanted it to go, but it's football and it's part of the game. I'll deal with it and hopefully bounce back for next year,” McCarthy said Thursday. Coach Mike Munchak revealed Thursday that the middle linebacker is out this week with one game to go. “McCarthy will be out this week I'm sure,” Munchak said. Munchak said Wednesday that McCarthy hasn't returned to normal in order to gain clearance. “He just doesn’t feel 100 percent, he doesn’t feel clear enough to where he’s back to feeling normal. He just hasn’t gotten there yet. Certain things he’s been able to do and feel better, but overall, getting ready to play football, he’s not ready,” Munchak said. “The concern with concussions is that guys won’t admit that they don’t feel normal and they keep playing with it. "That’s what has gone on with the history of the game, guys don’t want to say anything because they want to play. I think he’s gotten to where his is the fact that he is letting us know. He tried to get back, and I think he’s realizing that trying to get on the field, he’s not getting better right now. We just have to be real careful there. There’s no reason not to be. We haven’t played him for that reason.” Source: Titans Insider
