In this series we are going to look at the potential free agents of the Houston Texans, and figure out if they work into the plans for the coming years….   One of the most valuable Houston Texans on the team, starting center ChrisMyers has been one of the top if not the best offensive lineman for the Texans since coming to Houston in 2008. Myers who is considered under sized for a NFL lineman at 6’4″ and 285 lbs, but is a perfect fit the Texans zone scheme.   Since putting on a Texans jersey, Myers has started all 64 regular season games for the Texans and 2 playoff games. He has been a constant force in the Texans running game, and after an embarassing game againt the New York Jets and Kris Jenkins, Myers has been nothing short of amazing. His ability to handle bigger nose tackles, and ability to move laterally to reach 3 techniques is impressive.   Since coming to Houston the Texans running game ranks per game:   2008    115.4 (13th) 2009    92.2 (30th) 2010   127.6 (7th) 2011   ...

Yet, it remains more likely he will remain on the New York Jets roster next season as an integral part of their offense. The question is, how will Tony Sparano use a tight end who is not much of a blocker and has a skill set more suited to being a wide receiver? First off,...

Jets Restructure Ferguson's Contract, Create Cap Space

Over the past few weeks you have been hearing about the Jets cap space problem, the problem being they had no cap space. What you also likely heard was that Mike Tannenbaum would work his magic and free up cap space by cutting some players (like Eric Smith) and restructuring the large contracts of others. Well it seems Tannenbaum has already started this process as D'Brickashaw...

Running back Arian Foster will become a restricted free agent on March 13, according to NFL Live. Jets' Ryan: Super Bowl guarantee a 'mistake'

New York Jets coach Rex Ryan admitted that running his mouth last season left his team running on empty. Ryan guaranteed that the Jets would win the Super Bowl - and they came up woefully short, going 8-8 and failing to make the postseason. "Looking back obviously it was a huge mistake to make that guarantee," Ryan said. “At the time we were coming off two championship...

Rex Ryan still flapping gums, just not making guarantees

It would seem that Rex Ryan is seeing the err of his ways, but that really isn’t the case. Ya see, at this time last year, the New York Jets head coach took to the podium at the NFL Scouting Combine and guaranteed that the Jets would win the Super Bowl. Now, the guarantee in itself shouldn’t be knocked. After all, who doesn’t want to see confidence from their coach or players...

Texans Say T.J. Yates Must Beat Out Matt Leinart For Backup QB Job

T.J. Yates played admirably as the Texans’ starting QB late last season, but coach Gary Kubiak said the second-year pro still must battle Matt Leinart to be Matt Schaub‘s backup in 2012. “If we lined up and went to camp tomorrow and I’ve got all three of those guys back in line and I know who my (No.) 1 is, I think what I would do is I would tell T.J. and Matt go back and battle...

Jets in play for Peyton Manning?

Indianapolis - The Jets have been generally supportive of Mark Sanchez as their quarterback of the present and future, but head coach Rex Ryan and general manager Mike Tannenbaum sure did sound today like they'd consider Peyton Manning if he's on the free agent market.

Texans OT Rashad Butler Uses Gay Slur On Twitter

Twitter mistakes are becoming more and more common these days and this can be tricky. Houston Texans reserve tackle Rashad Butler ventured down the same path Thursday night as he watched the Heat-Knicks game. Butler made a crack about Kobe Bryant and referred to the Lakers star as No. 8. Of course, testy Lakers fans quickly responded with corrections because Bryant changed to No...

Rex Ryan avoids making guarantees

Bombastic New York Jets coach and former Ravens defensive coordinator Rex Ryan was the talk of the combine last year when he guaranteed that his team was going to win the Super Bowl. Standing in the same room today, about a month and a half after his team endured an 8-8 season and a divided locker room, Ryan was significantly less brash.
