In this series we are going to look at the potential free agents of the Houston Texans, and figure out if they work into the plans for the coming years…. Considered a savior of some short Neil Rackers was signed to replace the much maligned Kris Brown in 2010 to help shore up an embarrassing kicking game. He actually had a kicking “competition” when he arrived in 2010 with Brown, but the writing was on the wall with Rackers coming in. Rackers actually has been a good kicker for the Texans in two years here, despite only being the second kicker in Texans franchise history. With that said he was 59-68 in field goal attempts and 82-83 in extra point attempts, he was pretty good field goal kicker with the exception between 40-49 yards where he was 9-15. In Houston, he had his highest percentage of his 12 year career, and even provided some good kickoffs after rookie Brett Hartmann went down with and ACL injury.
