In a flurry of free agent activity the last 2 days, the Steelers have secured the services of another available player. Ok, perhaps “flurry” is going a little overboard but when it comes to free agents and the Steelers, any signing is a big signing. There is none bigger this offseason so far than the return of Jerricho Cotchery. Multiple sources including Rotoworld and TribLive Radio have reported that Cotchery has signed a new 2 yr. deal to return to the Steelers. This is the 3rd free agent signing so far this offseason, which includes Ramon Foster signing his tender offer and newly acquired free agent Tight End Leonard Pope, formally of the Chiefs. With the release Hines Ward and the status of Mike Wallace still up in the air, atleast somewhat, bringing back Cotchery was very important to the future stability of the receivers. Assuming that Wallace does sign his 1 yr. tender, there’s no guarantee the team can ink him long term before he hits the market in 2013. If he is lost to th...

Report: Steelers Sign Jerricho Cotchery to a two year deal

The Steelers have kept one of their own in bringing back Jerricho Cotchery.  Rotoworld is reporting that the Steelers have re-signed Cotchery to a two year deal.  This is good news for the Steelers. The Steelers still have to worry but very little about Mike Wallace’s situation.  If Wallace were to leave the Steelers would still have 3 good receivers left on the squad.  Also...

Heath Miller Was Not An Obvious First Round Pick In 2005 Either

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed free agent tight end Leonard Pope on Tuesday and immediately most in Steeler Nation speculate that there is absolutely no way the Steelers will now consider drafting a tight end in the first round of the draft later this month. When you look at the odds from a distance and mix in the fact that Pope played for new offensive coordinator Todd Haley when...

Report: Steelers RB Coach Kirby Wilson To Return To Work On Monday

The Sideline View is reporting via Twitter that Pittsburgh Steelers running backs coach Kirby Wilson will return to work on Monday. While there is no name attached to the tweet, it is assumed that the source is Lance Zierlein, co-owner of the site and son of former Steelers offensive line coach Larry Zierlein. Pittsburgh Steelers RB coach Kirby Wilson, who was burned in a fire...

Mike Wallace is refusing to sign his RFA Tender

Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live this afternoon that Mike Wallace will not be signing his RFA Tender.  Wallace will skip all of the offseason programs.  He plans to hold out until he gets a long term deal.  That is the only deal he plans on signing. Wallace had reported interest in getting a Larry Fitzgerald type deal.  Many thought that it was to see if he could get more then...

Steelers 2012 Mock Draft Version 1.0 – Christopher DiMarino

By Christopher DiMarino Completing this mock draft was a large undertaking for a guy like me. Whereas I’m normally very direct and concise, I have tried to cater a lot of the articles I write towards both sides of the story. Sure I like Coby Fleener, but I also want to look into the negative aspects of him as a prospect in an effort to remain neutral as well as alter to my opinion...

Steelers sign Trai Essex

Trai Essex posted on twitter that he is back with the Steelers.  Essex will compete as a back up and will probably play the swing role that he has played over the past few seasons.  The Steelers still need depth at all offensive line positions and Essex can play them all.

Blogging the Steelers; Not all are created equal

With the signing of Leonard Pope, who’s on the hot seat for the Steelers?

Cheers can be heard around the world today as the Steeler Nation finally gets a free agent signing to brag about. Well, ok, let’s not get crazy but Free Agent Tight End Leonard Pope is a solid addition to the Steelers and does add some depth and potentially eliminate some needs on draft day and beyond. First, the official release according to Steelers.com, Pope was originally drafted...
