With the NFL Draft behind us, it’s time to move forward. But with that said, free agency is still alive and well, and with Tampa still in need of some veteran players, the recently cut Adalius Thomas could possibly be a target for the Bucs.

As of now, the Buccaneers are left with Geno Hayes and Quincy Black at outside linebacker, which could improve with the acquisition of let’s say…Adalius Thomas. But like all free agents, the decision to bring him on board will come down to how Mark Domink and Raheem Morris pursue him.

In my opinion, I say they should take a look at him…for the right price of course. I don’t think we should invest a ton in him, but I do think we should take a shot with him because he is a very versatile defender. His presence on the Bucs’ D would provide the young, but talented starters a veteran leader to look up to, and to learn from.

Of course, if you are a stats person, you may not be on the Thomas bandwagon. His 2009 stats are nothing near eye-popping, or even decent for that matter. His past two seasons were something to forget, as he only compiled a measly total of eight sacks. Many will say that Thomas, 32 years old, is declining in terms of production, but I think he has a few good years left.

But if the Bucs don’t pursue Thomas, they could look elsewhere. Or, they could stick with Hayes, Black, and the rest of their linebackers for the rest of the offseason.
