With reports that the Atlanta Falcons are projected to have only about $1.7 million in salary cap space this offseason, some are envisioning a scenario where both veterans DE John Abraham and RB Michael Turner could be released in order to create an estimated $10.4 million in cap space. That's a tough decision that lies ahead, but one head coach Mike Smith reluctantly acknowledges.

  • Not so much a Cap issue as it would be age, time in the league, injury, etc....and....too much bad press from law enforcement. Why take a chance? Ship em' out while they have value. Sort of like trading your truck while it is still running!!

  • Atlanta best chance was this year. It's too late now that this ship is sinking into oblivion. Same thing that happens to many championship teams-- except this team couldn't even win the NFC. They still have world class talent to catch the ball from a timid QB who has a hard time buying time, but what else? Tell Abraham to take a pay cut, although he's always been undervalued...

  • Both players are due to be replaced. We need some young bulls on the Defensive line and a bigger and better running back. Many thanks to both of these guys but it would be a good thing to let them go.
