The St. Louis Rams and running back Steven Jackson have had a history that has endured the test of time in the ever changing NFL. Players are given three years at best to produce, but what happens when the team around you is at fault? This is the question St. Louis Rams' running back Steven Jackson has faced every season since 2004. While Jackson has made it clear that he wants to finish his career out as a Ram, his price tag might be a bit steep for head coach Jeff Fisher. Jackson is expected to count for $8,899,166 against the salary cap in 2013.An interesting storyline to follow is that of running back Daryl Richardson. Drafted in the sixth round out of Abilene Christian, Richardson came into the NFL with a clear chip on his shoulder. The small school product skillfully rushed his way onto the national spotlight, showing his rushing ability coupled with his receiving talents. Richardson was suddenly thought of as an upgrade from the aging Jackson by some fans. North Carolina's Giovani Bernard is only a sophomore; however, he has showed that he has matured beyond his age both on and off the field. Bernard has proven to be a first round selection, and arguably the number one running back in his class. The only concern with Bernard and the Rams, is St. Louis will have to function more out of the shotgun with Bernard, as most of his runs at North Carolina were out of shotgun. With Bernard and Richardson in the backfield, the Rams can finally become a truly young offense, with room to grow. While Steven Jackson has been phenomenal in his career with St. Louis, it is no secret that he has never had a backup to split carries with. Head Coach Jeff Fisher has a chance to revolutionize the offense, and can compete in a tough NFC West division.
