With Eli Manning’s fourth-quarter rally in the Giants 21-17 win over the Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, that means the Quarterback Class of 2004 now has four rings. Manning has two and Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who went to Miami University, has the other two. Overall, the quarterbacks have made five Super Bowl trips and are 4-1. When you compare that to the first eight seasons of the Class of 1983, that is impressive. That group, which is the most ballyhooed in league history, was already 0-6 at this point with John Elway, Dan Marino, Jim Kelly and Tony Eason. Besides Manning and Roethlisberger, San Diego’s Philip Rivers and Houston’s Matt Schaub have had their own measures of success. The only one who didn’t is J.P. Losman, who was selected by Buffalo in the first round. One group though that might start to rival the Classes of ’83 and ’04, is this past season’s group, which had six quarterbacks start games. With 51 starts, it is the most started by rookies s...

Love Eli? Rivalry’s What Rocks

Talk about reversal of fortunes. Who’d a’ thunk at the start of NFL 2011 it’d be Manning-the-Younger (Eli) hoisting the hardware in February as opposed to Manning-the-Elder (Peyton), whose career would be teetering on the brink? Not many, and even fewer Giants’ fans and East Coast media. The low expectations never seemed to faze the League’s new 4th Quarter phenom. Through...

Eli's elite, for sure, after 2nd Super Bowl MVP

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Back in August, back before the season began, Eli Manning was asked whether he considered himself an "elite" quarterback a la Tom Brady.Manning replied simply that he belonged "in that class." New York Giants, Super Bowl champs!

There's no need for me to rehash all the ins and outs of last night's game. Sports Illustrated's website provides some great analysis and commentary if you're online, and ESPN is talking it to death if you're watching tv. All I will say is that I love my team, I love that they wanted to win, and I kinda love that it was the Patriots that they stuck it to. I will...
