Despite having back-to-back seasons ending in injury, being caught in the middle of a change in defensive scheme, having no contract in place, and turning 34-years of age later this year, could veteran defensive lineman Robaire Smith reutrn to Cleveland once the NFL lockout is lifted?
An 11-year veteran in the National Football League, Smith played in only five games in 2010 before suffering an injury to his back and spine. Prior to being placed on the disabled list, then coach Eric Mangini hinted that Smith’s career could be in jeaopardy. Following several months of rehabilitation, Smith is back on the playing field as he took part in the most recent version of Camp Colt, the voluntary, non-organized team activities that have been orchestrated by quarterback Colt McCoy.
