The Minnesota Vikings are rumored to being open to trading their star receiver Percy Harvin. The flashy receiver is in the last year of his contract, and many think he’s ready to hold out to get a new deal. In New England, it’s a growing frame of mind that Wes Welker and possibly Brandon Lloyd are on the way out of town. In that case, the Patriots will be in the market for some playmaking wideouts, enter Harvin. The Belichick –Florida connection is well documented, and he did quite a bit of work on Harvin while he was in college. Belichick nemesis Brad Childress drafted Harvin one spot ahead of the Patriots in the 2009 draft, and then bragged how he took Belichick’s prize. Karen Guregian of the Boston Herald looks back to a conversation she had with Harvin in 2009, and sheds some light on how the Patriots view him. “I’m real familiar with him,” Harvin said. “He came down a bunch of times to talk to me, talk to the (Gators) team, talk to (quarterback Tim) Tebow. I’ve heard a lot of things (about the draft). I think if Minnesota had passed, they would have taken me.” “They looked at me for special teams play,” said Harvin. “They thought I could make an impact there right away. They thought I could play slot receiver. We just kind of got to know each other.” var switchTo5x=true; stLight.options({publisher:''});
