The Dallas Cowboys wasted no time parting ways with four veterans Tuesday. Wide receiver Roy Williams, running back Marion Barber, guard Leonard Davis and kicker Kris Brown will all be released according to David Moore of The Dallas Morning News. These moves carry salary cap implications down the road, Moore wrote. But a team that entered the day at 18.9 million over the cap has taken a 16.6 million bite out of that largesse in 2011 withthe decisions to release Davis (6 million), Williams (5 million), Barber (4.75 million) and Brown (910,000)."The Detroit Lions traded Williams and a seventh round pick to the Cowboys in Oct. 2008. In the process, the Cowboys gave up a first, third and sixth round pick in 2009.Before Williams ever dressed for a game in Dallas, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones inked him to a 6-year, 54 million deal.Williams never reached his potential with the Cowboys as younger receivers Miles Austin and Dez Bryant were both more productive. In 10 games with the Cowboys in 2008, Williams caught 19 passes. He followed that up with 38 receptions in 2009 and 37 in 2010. Barbers release doesnt come as a surprise. The six-year veteran had career lows in rushes, yards and touchdowns in 2010. In 2008, the Cowboys signed Barber to a seven-year 45 million deal.Releasing Davis, who was a three-time Pro Bowl right guard for the Cowboys, doesnt necessarily mean he will not be part of the team in 2011. It's possible that the 32-year-old could renegotiate hiscontract and remain in Dallas. Brown was signedin the final week of the 2010 seasonto create competition for starting kicker David Buehler. Of the group, he will be the easiest to replace. The Cowboys signed undrafted free agentOklahoma State kicker Dan Bailey on Tuesday to add depth to the position.--Follow me on Twitter @jonmachota
