Morgan Cox said he was in meetings Saturday when he was informed that the organization had waived long-time long snapper Matt Katula. “Initially, it was excitement,” Cox, a rookie, said of his emotions when he heard the news. “It’s one of those things where I called my parents and told them, ‘Here we go.’ But after that, the dust settled in, and I thought, ‘OK, it’s my job, so let’s go.’ I’ve got to make the team better, and whatever I can do to do that, I’m going to do it.” Cox said he understands that he’s got some big shoes to fill with regard to Katula, who played well enough to earn a five-year extension from the franchise in 2008. Like coach John Harbaugh, Cox said he believes that Katula will land with another NFL team. “I know that as good a snapper as Matt is, he’s going to go somewhere else,” Cox said. “He’s too good of a snapper. I’ve followed his career since he’s been in the league, and like I said, he’s just an awesome snapper, and I’ve learned a lot from him ...
