There was a ton of talk a few days ago about how the Redskins were ready to go really big in free agency to make up for the lack of draft picks over the next few years. After all, they need to surround Robert Griffin III with some semblance of talent. However, they are going to have to get very inventive with deals now that the NFL sacked them for a loss of $36 million in cap space.

According to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the NFL hit the Skins and the Dallas Cowboys for frontlaoding deals during the uncapped 2010 season. The league had warned against this, and it ended up being a violation of last years rules. The Cowboys cap hit is at $10 million.

The one thing that helps the Redskins in this matter is that they can spread this out over the next two seasons. But even so, the Skins had envisioned a strong pursuit of Vincent Jackson, but that is now looking like it might be a lost cause.

Shortly after the news was announced by Schefter, the Skins released free safety Oshiomogho Atogwe and fullback Mike Sellers to free up more money with free agency set to begin at 4pm est tomorrow.
