By Mike McDermottCurtis Martin, whose career began with three consecutive 1,000-plus yard seasons in New England, has been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Martin, who spent the final eight years of his 11-year career with the rival New York Jets, is the NFL's fourth leading all-time rusher, with 14,101 yards. Martin's former coach, Bill Parcells, who is a defining figure in the history of both the Giants and the Patriots, did not make the Hall this year. Martin is one of six players in this year's class. He is joined by former Seattle defensive tackle Cortez Kennedy; former Pittsburgh center Dermontti Dawson; former Minnesota, Atlanta and San Francisco defensive end Chris Doleman; and Willie Roaf, who played offensive tackle for New Orleans and Kansas City. Jack Butler, a defensive back with the Steelers of the 1950s, was elected as a senior selection.
