I’m still not convinced that we would come out on the better end of the deal with a Jay Cutler trade. Sure, we could send him to Detroit for the #1 pick in the draft, but that requires a $33 million guaranteed to a rookie player. There’s been talk about the Browns wanting to deal Brady Quinn. Although Quinn is pretty to look at, I’d rather see Cutler behind center. I’d love to see a Cutler-Julius Peppers trade, but that leaves us on the opposite end of last year’s “all offense and no defense” scenario. Sending him to Arizona for Matt Leinart would make everyone want to jam a pencil in their eyeball. A move to Minnesota or Chicago would bring in Tarvaris Jackson or Kyle Orton which would be a huge down grade.
The only fair trade I can see is a Cutler for Tony Romo deal. Jerry Jones is always looking to grab the headlines, and this one would surely do it for him. Romo in a Denver uniform would be a dream come true after all this drama. I’m sure Dallas fans would love to see Jessica Simpson exit Dallas also. I know it won’t happen, but I can dream, right?
How do you think the Broncos should approach this trade situation?
