Last week I detailed a plan on Twitter for fantasy owners who lost Rob Gronkowski. Instead of trying to a multiple-week replacement for Gronk, I argued that fantasy owners should instead stream tight ends much like many owners do with defenses.
After one week of streaming tight ends, I’m 1-for-2 in Gronk leagues.
My suggestions last week were to pick up and start Dustin Keller (vs. Patriots) and Tony Moeaki (vs. Broncos). Keller didn’t disappoint, posting nearly 15 fantasy points in standard PPR leagues. Moeaki, however, finished with only two catches for 40 yards.
This week, I’m going with Dallas Clark against Denver. In deeper leagues, you can consider Anthony Fasano or Charles Clay of Miami, but I’d probably go with a household name over either of those guys if you can.
Jim Harbaugh won’t name a starting quarterback in San Francisco still, despite Colin Kaepernick posting impressive back-to-back starts. Worth adding. Jake Locker and Chad Henne are worth a look this week if you need to add depth at QB.
Thanks for nothing Ronnie Hillman. The rookie running back did next to nothing for the Broncos because it was Knowshon Moreno drawing the start in the backfield in a surprise move. Moreno had a nice day and the job is his now. Jacquizz Rodgers continues to out-snap and out-produce Michael Turner. Plus matchup versus the Saints on Thursday night. And the much-maligned David Wilson will get another crack at RB2 behind Ahmad Bradshaw with Andre Brown done for the rest of the regular season. Worth stashing.
Ryan Broyles excelled with the extra looks from Matthew Stafford with Titus Young out of the lineup. He’s a great slot receiver. Henne has breathed life into the Jaguars’ passing game, so both Cecil Shorts and Justin Blackmon are roster-able. Brandon Lafell is quietly having a nice stretch of games of late and is worth a look in deeper leagues. I like Julian Edelman with Gronk out of the lineup. He should continue to see more targets than usual and has play-making ability.
