It doesn’t really matter that Tim Tebow was traded to the New York Jets and sits behind Mark Sanchez on the depth chart. He’s going to play for this team in some capacity.

And that capacity is starting to become more and more clear.

Tebow has been gaining weight heading into the 2012 regular season. Normally, you wouldn’t want your backup quarterback to be that big of a guy. Think Jared Lorenzen, also known as Hefty Lefty. It’s not functional, nor is it a good look for the face of your franchise.

Tebow’s weight-gain is strategic. He’s not a great passer, but he is a great rusher in short-yardage situations. Tebow is bulking up so that he can withstand the contact he’ll assume this season as the Jets’ short-yardage and goal-line running back.

If it does indeed play out that way for Tebow, it’s terrible news for Shonn Greene. With LaDainian Tomlinson finally out of his way and no other running back to speak of, Greene was set for his make-or-break season.

But not if Tebow is stealing those all-important fantasy football touches near the goal line.

Tebow to give sermon in San Diego

New York Jets backup quarterback Tim Tebow will take a break from learning the team's playbook Sunday to address fellow Christians during a Father's Day event at San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium. The deeply religious signal caller will make his first return to the Chargers' home field since November, when he helped lead the Broncos to a 16-13 overtime victory. The free...

Tim Tebow to preach at Qualcomm Stadium on Father’s Day

Getty Images New York Jets quarterback Tim Tebow is scheduled to preach this Sunday (Father’s Day) at San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.  He’ll be speaking alongside Shadow Mountain Community Church Pastor David Jeremiah. “The last time he was at Qualcomm was the last time the Broncos beat the Chargers,” Shadow Mountain spokesman David St. John said this week, per the North...

Jets want Tim Tebow to continue bulking up

Tim Tebow has been bulking up this offseason and the Jets would like him to continue to do so. They want him around 250 pounds. Tebow is reportedly pretty close to that weight now and, according to reports, is still in fantastic shape as all of the weight gained has been pure muscle. I wouldn’t expect anything less from someone with Tebow’s work ethic. The Jets’ desire for...

According to bum’s sign, Tim Tebow is a scourge upon New York City hobos (pic)

Wait. Is that…is that former New York Jets quarterback Drew Stanton? Nah, probably not. He’s probably wandering the streets of Indianapolis if anything. Regardless of this homeless man’s true identity, If his accusations are in fact true, well, that’s not very Christian of one Mr. Tim Tebow. Well, maybe I’m reaching when stating that Tebow [...]

Tim Tebow in the backfield at Jets practice

The New York Jets are ready to use Tim Tebow in any way they can.  During mini camp practice Tebow caught some passes out of the backfield. Tebow ran with the ones on Wednesday but coach Rex Ryan let everyone know there is no quarterback controversy between Tebow and Mark Sanchez.   He says you will see Tebow run with the ones because new offensive coordinator Tony Sparano wants...

Jets want Tebow to bulk up to 250 and more in NFL Daily Digest.

The Incredible Bulk: As a kid you were always told focus on a person’s actions and not their words right? Well if that is the case, Mark Sanchez is the defacto starting QB in New York as the Jets are asking Tim Tebow to add more muscle weight according t... Tim Tebow took a photo holding a toddler in a Mark Sanchez jersey

Tim Tebow was surrounded by a crowd, as usual, and a New York Jets fan approached him to take a picture holding what we are assuming is their son. The funny part about this picture? The kid is in a Mark Sanchez jersey. Tebow was a good sport and posed for the photo while in his red practice jersey. The quarterback controversy with the Jets has been talked about by the media a lot...

New York Jets 2012 Fantasy Football Preview

The New York Jets are a perfect example of how the offseason’s main story lines can have little impact on the fantasy relevance of a team. If you haven’t heard, the Jets acquired Tim Tebow from the Denver Broncos, kicking off a entirely over-dramatic quarterback controversy which most likely doesn’t exist. In this preview, I’ll assume that Mark Sanchez is the starter with...
