The Dallas Cowboys and the Minnesota Vikings are two teams showing initial interest in veteran CB Stanford Routt. Routt was released earlier this week by the Oakland Raiders. In seven seasons, all with the Oakland Raiders, Routt has recorded 10 career interceptions. The veteran was released after one year played on a five-year deal agreed to after the 2010 season.
The Dallas Cowboys could use an upgrade in their secondary and joining the Dallas club might make sense for Routt given his familiarity with Cowboys defensive coordinator, Rob Ryan. Another team which has reportedly reached out to the veteran cornerback is the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings secondary was among the worst in the NFL in 2011, going nine games without recording an interception.
