In the race for the league’s Rookie of the Year honors, Andy Dalton has drawn even with Cam Newton in one aspect – recognition.
The Bengals QB has been named the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Month. Dalton was one of the big reasons why the Bengals had an unbeaten October for only the second time in franchise history.
In the four wins last month, Dalton completed 82 of 130 for 909 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions for a passer rating of 83.1.
“It’s a great honor but it’s nothing I did by myself,” Dalton said. “I’ve got a lot of guys making plays who are definitely helping me out. I don’t know who votes on all that. There are guys who are well deserving.”
Newton was named the league’s Offensive Rookie of the Month in September. Dalton said he has seen highlights of Newton but hasn’t had the chance to watch any of the games.
