Dan Hampton: Eddie Jackson Playing 'Like a Clown'
David Banks-USA TODAY Sports

It's no secret that the Chicago Bears were embarrassed on Sunday against the Green Bay Packers. That said, the reaction from fans, media, and even former players has really made it feel like things are about to hit the fan. In the case of former players speaking out, Pro Football Hall of Famer Dan Hampton had some choice words when describing Bears safety Eddie Jackson.

According to Hampton, Jackson is playing like a clown. "Eddie Jackson is playing like a clown. He’s not tackling and is blowing coverages. If Eddie starts on Sunday that tells me you must not be trying to win, because Eddie has become a clown out there."

Hampton did not hold back on the Bears' All-Pro safety. What feels ironic is that Jackson is playing in the same defensive scheme and role that he did last season. In 2022, Bears fans felt like Jackson was back to his old form. Now, it appears something is different. What is different? That's the real question.

Hampton's outrage echoes that within the fanbase as well. The fans are wondering what is going on with the team. From the offense looking completely out of sorts, to the defense looking lost and confused, things aren't looking good for the Bears.

It's hard to imagine Jackson not playing on Sunday, meaning that the Bears must not be trying to win. That said, what other options does the team have? Jackson is arguably one of their top DBs. If Hampton is right, then the Bears are not as talented as fans and the media initially thought.

Hampton has never held back when discussing the Bears. Most of the players from the 1985 Super Bowl team do the same. We'll find out this Sunday if Hampton's thoughts are warranted, but the panic level within the Bears' fanbase is starting to heighten by the day.
