In other news from yesterday’s press conference with Art Rooney II he let the media know that his father and current Ambassador of the United Sates to Ireland, Dan Rooney will be stepping down from that post this year. And he expects him to return to the Steelers.
″I think he’ll come back and be a key player, let’s put it that way,″ Art Rooney II said of his father’s role with the franchise. ″He obviously enjoys being part of the team, so we’ll look forward to having him back.″
The Pittsburgh Tribune also reported that Dan Rooney has attended many more games this year than the last couple of years. There is no set date for Rooney to step down as Ambassador at this point but it sounds like it will be sometime before training camp will begin. It will definitely be nice to have Dan Rooney back where he belongs with the Steelers.
