The NFC East is full of passionate players, fans and rivalries and the Washington Redskins- New York Giants rivalry is no different.
Robert Griffin III has given the Redskins organization something they haven’t had in years and it is evident whenever he steps on the field. This past Monday night game against the Giants was no different. The Redskins squeaked by with a 17-16 win over the Giants but, Dan Snyder may have been the most happy.
It was reported by ESPNNewYork.com’s Ohm Youngmisuk that while in the locker room celebrating the victory, Dan Snyder shook the hand of a team employee and said, “I hate those m—–f—-ers.”
Talk about intensity.
It is no secret that the New York Giants owner, John Mara, had a hand taking away $36 million worth of cap space from the Redskins, increasing the heat in the already boiling rivalry between the two teams. The Redskins are still appealing the cap-space they’ve already lost and are scheduled to potentially lose this season.
The game did get a little choppy especially in the third quarter when each team had a player flagged for unnecessary roughness.
With yesterday’s Washington win, the Giants hold onto a one game lead in the division with four games remaining. The Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys are both hot on the Giants heels with 6-6 records and seemingly easier schedules as we head towards the end of the regular season.
