Texans defensive back Danieal Manning is shocked at Chicago fans for booing him for doing his job and intercepting a Jay Cutler pass. Sometimes you just can't win, it's not personal, it's Chicago. Danieal Manning was selected by the Chicago Bears with the 42nd pick in the 2006 NFL Draft from Abilene Christian University. In 2008, Manning led the league in kickoff return average and number of 30+-yard returns, despite only starting half the season. After starting his career as a nickel back, Manning moved to safety in 2009. He signed a four year, $20 million contract with the Houston Texans in 2011. Chicago is a tough place to play, let alone leave and come back. After Manning picked off Jay Cutler in the first half of their game against the Bears, he crossed Brian Urlacher, a former teammate and friend, they slapped hands. That drew the ire of the Chicago faithful. Manning spoke with WSCR in Chicago with Mully and Hanley about the incident. “It blows my mind. It really does. We’ve been playing this game for such a long time and now we’re professionals and I feel like we deserve the chance, we respect this game, we’re both competitors and we respect each other. I was there with Brian for five years and we developed a friendship and I think the guy was just happy for me. I mean if he makes a great play I’m going to be the same way. Between the whistles we’re going to be friends but we’re going to be competing with each other but now I just made a play, I walked up to him, exchanged a couple of words and we shook hands. That was pretty much it. After the game he just told me he was proud of me and he was happy that I was able to get in a situation that I enjoy. There was no animosity toward the team, the organization or the players. I left because I had a better offer on the table and that was with the Houston Texans. I didn’t feel like I left on bad terms and that’s the reason I was telling everyone that it wasn’t personal playing this team.”
