Last season, Owen Daniels thought he had finally returned to the player he was before tearing a knee ligament in 2009. After comparing film from then and now, the Houston Texans tight end realizes he wasn't quite there yet. Now that he really has returned to form, Daniels has re-emerged as of the top tight ends in the NFL, and gives the Texans' powerful offense another threat. ''He's playing right now as good as I've ever seen him play since he's been with me, and he's played pretty darn good in the past,'' Texans coach Gary Kubiak says. Daniels is fourth in the NFL among tight ends with 416 yards receiving with four touchdowns for the Texans (6-1), who play the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. --- Online: http://pro32.ap.org/poll and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL

Ranking the AFC's division leaders: which team has what it takes to get to the Super Bowl?

By: Rich Bergeron The New England Patriots (5-3) and the Denver Broncos (4-3) are the only two teams in the NFL's AFC who lead their respective divisions while carrying three losses on their records going into week nine of the season. Both teams are dealing with some growing pains and adjustment issues, and both are led by legendary quarterbacks. If they can manage to keep...

Texans sign RB Grimes, waive LB Alexander

The Houston Texans claimed running back Jonathan Grimes off waivers and released linebacker Mister Alexander. The 5-foot-10 Grimes was signed off the Texans' practice squad by the New York Jets in September. The Jets waived him on Tuesday, and the Texans picked him up with Ben Tate's status uncertain for Sunday's game against Buffalo (3-4) because of a hamstring injury...

Texans claimed Jonathan Grimes who was their leading rusher in preseason

Texans claimed RB Jonathan Grimes off waivers from the Jets. LB Mister Alexander was waived in a corresponding move. Grimes was waived by the Jets Tuesday. An undrafted free agent originally signed by Houston, the Jets plucked Grimes off the Texans’ practice squad in September. His claiming is an indication Houston doesn’t expect Ben Tate (hamstring) to be active for Week 9...

NFL mid-season awards

It's the middle of the season, which means it's time hand out the major awards. Most Valuable Player: Matt Ryan -- Quarterback -- Atlanta Falcons History tells us that the MVP goes to the best player on the best team in the league. Makes sense, and there's no argument against that logic. Well, with that logic, let's look at the best team in the league: the Falcons...

Ben Tate Expected To Miss Week 9

Houston Texans' running back Justin Forsett will be the backup for Arian Foster in Week 9 against Buffalo. Ben Tate is not expected to be active due to a hamstring injury.Fantasy Spin:The Bills' run defense is the worst in the league and Arian Foster will likely have a big day, but even in limited attempts, Forsett might have some low-end value.

Texans Players To Watch: Bills Edition

The Buffalo Bills battle the Houston Texans this Sunday at Reliant Stadium in what will be the first homecoming for former Texans’ first round pick Mario Williams.  The 6-1 Texans are coming off a big win versus AFC rival Baltimore Ravens while the 3-4 Bills are looking to rebound after a 35-34 loss to the Titans.  Both teams are coming off bye weeks and should be well rested...

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans: Will Texans Lock Up Home Field Sooner Than Later?

Follow @Dan Vasta and like Gridiron Grit on Facebook This may not be a blowout if Ryan Fitzpatrick plays the game of his life, but that may seem nearly impossible right now. Plus, the Texans may obliterate Buffalo at the point of attack whereas C.J. Spiller would have to break off a few long runs to just keep it close. Houston does not allow many long plays let alone drives, so...

Buffalo Bills at Houston Texans: Three Bold Predictions

Houston trounced Baltimore before the bye, 43-13, and picked up a two-game...

Bills-Texans Preview

Though no one has run the ball more often than the AFC-leading Houston Texans, coach Gary Kubiak is looking for better production from his backfield. Houston should be able to find plenty of running room Sunday against the league's worst rush defense. With both teams coming off byes, the Texans will surely look to get their ground game going against the Buffalo Bills, who are...

Bills Primer: Three Things to Watch

The Houston Texans are back at the game of football and are heading into the halfway point of the NFL season. The opponent this week is none other than the Buffalo Bills and the return of Mario Williams to Reliant. Williams will take the headlines but there are other Bills’ players that the Texans will need to watch for. The Bills may be streaky at times but they boast a potent...

Staff Predictions: Bills vs. Texans

Frank: 44-13, Houston- I can't even sprinkle any veiled optimism into this one, its going to be ugly. I'm thinking that last year's Dallas game and this year's Jet games will look similar. I can't see any facet of Buffalo's game that can top Houston and I fully expect the media (and blogosphere) to **** all over Mario when he doesn't leave this one with...
