According to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun, the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement on a multi-year deal with former Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. Ellerbe has reached an agreement with the Miami Dolphins on a multi-year contract, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Ellerbe had been in talks with the Ravens throughout today, but they were unable to reach a compromise. Now, Ellerbe heads to the Dolphins, a move that may cost incumbent linebacker Karlos Dansby his job. This is a huge blow to the Ravens’ defense.  Ellerber was expected to stick around and replace Ray Lewis, who’s now retired.  I  have never seen a Super Bowl champion lose so many key players in an offseason.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/jav...

AP source: Ellerbe agrees to deal with Dolphins

Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe parlayed Super Bowl success into a big payday, agreeing to a $35 million, five-year deal with the Miami Dolphins, a person with knowledge of the contract said Tuesday. The person confirmed the agreement to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because no deal had been announced. Ellerbe, 27, had a career-high 4 1/2 sacks last year for the Super...

Time is running out for the Ravens to get a deal done with L.B. Dannell Ellerbe

The Baltimore ravens have said they were making it a priority to sign their Line-Backer Dannell Ellerbe. The team and Ellerbe’s people are certainly taking this right down to the wire. I understand the Ravens point of waiting to see just how much cap space they were able to clear. The team has only hours left to get a deal done before tomorrow at 4:00p.m. when it is OK for other...

Ellerbe, Dolphins agree on deal

The hits keep coming to the Super Bowl XLVIII champion Baltimore Ravens' roster. Dannell Ellerbe, arguably the team's best linebacker in 2012, inked a deal with the Miami Dolphins on Tuesday. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun was the first to report the signing. The Ravens had hoped to re-sign Ellerbe prior to the 4 p.m. EST start of the free agency period, but were unsuccessful...

Miami Dolphins sign MLB Dannell Ellerbe

This was the one move that came completely out of nowhere. Middle linebacker wasn’t a need of the Dolphins’. Sure, Karlos Dansby was getting older, but he still played at a very high level and cutting him and giving Dannell Ellerbe even more money makes absolutely no sense. Dansby was owed about 15 million over the final two seasons of his deal, including just 6 million this...

Report: Dolphins Reach An Agreement With LB Dannell Ellerbe

Aaron Wilson is reporting that the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement in principle with free agent LB Dannell Ellerbe. This has to be extremely disappointing for the Ravens front office who have done almost everything they can to keep Ellerbe. They just traded WR Anquan Boldin to the 49ers and allowed OLB Paul Kruger to depart. Miami continues to be as aggressiveness as...

Dolphins sign former Raven, Dannell Ellerbe

The Miami Dolphins are on a roll right now, continuing their offseason free agent spending spree. Along with signing coveted WR Mike Wallace just a little while ago, there are now reports that the team has come to agreement with former Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. The Ravens are watching their Super Bowl squad fall apart in front of their very own eyes. With Ray Lewis retired...

Dolphins’ spending spree will cost Jeff Ireland his job

NFL Free Agency is under way and teams are on a spending spree signing players to help them remain a playoff team or get to the playoffs in 2013. One team in particular, the Miami Dolphins, are on a major spending spree in order to upgrade. There is nothing wrong with signing free agents, especially this year, where there are talented players that teams can sign to help build their...

Miami Dolphins Make Their Mark On First Day of Free Agency

After agreeing to terms with former Baltimore Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe to a five-year, $35 million deal at the start of 2013 NFL Free Agency Tuesday, the Miami Dolphins will now reportedly be releasing Karlos Dansby, per ESPN’s Adam Shefter. Though the Ravens’ loss of Ellerbe comes as a huge blow and somewhat of a shock to some, Miami’s move to cut ties with Dansby...

Report: Browns, Colts Bidding For Kruger, More Browns Interest in Ellerbe

Sometimes it’s good to get a look from behind enemy lines to see what they’re saying about a team’s free agents. Today, Aaron Wilson of The Baltimore Sun alerts us to the Browns interest in Ravens linebackers Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe. While we’ve been aware of potential interest from the Browns here for a while, given the Browns’ desire for experienced 3-4 linebackers...

Miami Dolphins Sign Mike Wallace And Dannell Ellerbe

The Miami Dolphins have officially signed wide receiver Mike Wallace to a five-year contract worth $60 million dollars. The deal includes $30 million in guarantees. The deal also gives the Miami Dolphins one of the top receivers in the NFL today. Wallace has great hands and deadly speed. The Dolphins announced the deal on their official Twitter feed saying, "The ink is dry and...

Miami makes moves as free agency opens

No surprise, the Miami Dolphins wasted little time making splashes in free agency. The Dolphins agreed to deals with their No. 1 target, wide receiver Mike Wallace, and linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. Wallace gives Miami a deep threat the team hasnt had in more than a decade. The former Steeler reportedly just needed to pass a physical before signing a five-year, 60-65 million pact...

Big Winner of Day 2: The Detroit Lions

After the Miami Dolphins made big moves on day 1 of free agency by signing Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe, the Detroit Lions were the clear winners of day 2. Ironically, the biggest signing of the day for the Lions was running back Reggie Bush, who left those same Dolphins to sign a 4 year $16 million dollar contract. Also added to the fold were former Texans safety Glover Quin...
