Patriots-woodhead-tackled
New England Patriots running back Danny Woodhead is scheduled to hit the  free agent market next month and may have played his last down with Bill Belichick and company. A fan favorite in Foxborough over the last three seasons, RB Danny Woodhead is no certainty to return to the Patriots. Woodhead is entering free agency for the first time in his career. While we hear the Patriots definitely value Woodhead and would bring him back at the right price, running back is a deep position, with Stevan Ridley, Shane Vereen, Brandon Bolden and Jeff Demps, who spent the 2012 season on injured reserve. The Pats generally won’t overpay for anyone, but especially running backs. They had no problem lettingBenJarvus Green-Ellis walk last year — the “Law Firm” signed a three-year, $9 million contract with the Bengals. Woodhead had seven total TDs in 2012 and 747 yards from scrimmage, but if he is looking for No. 2 running back-type money, he may be hard pressed to find that with the Patriots. Woodhead is nice versatile back that can do a lot out of the back field and even line up as a receiver.  I don’t think he’ll have a problem finding a new home in the NFL.   Need NFL Tickets? var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; var _CI = _CI || {}; (function() { var script = document.createElement('script'); ref = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; _CI.counter = (_CI.counter) ? _CI.counter + 1 : 1; document.write(''); script.type = 'text/javascript'; script.src = 'http://widget.crowdignite.com/widgets/27484?_ci_wid=_CI_widget_'+_CI.counter; script.async = true; ref.parentNode.insertBefore(script, ref); })();

Patriots may rid themselves of both Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker

Greg Bedard of the Boston Globe believes  both Brandon Lloyd and Wes Welker likely won’t be back with the Patriots next season.  And I agree with him. It’s been obvious for a while now that Wes Welker is likely done in New England.  If they place the franchise tag on him for a second straight season, it will cost them $11.4 million for the 2013 season.  They can’t afford...

Vince Wilfork shoveled snow during Winter Storm Nemo (Photos)

New England Patriots defensive lineman Vince Wilfork was busy shoveling his driveway Friday night when Winter Storm Nemo blasted the Northeast with two feet of snow. Vince's wife posted photos on Instagram with the caption "He got cabin fever already lmao as soon as he shoveled it it piled right back up lol smh." Just goes to show that NFL players are just like...

A strong middle class? Three Patriots account for 35 percent of salary cap

Once upon a time in New England, it was a common phrase to say the Patriots had a strong middle class. The thought was to slightly overpay for players who would sign elsewhere due to lack of opportunities to start, thus creating depth or a “strong middle class.” However, when looking over the Patriots salary cap, there is one glaring contradiction. Tom Brady, Vince Wilfork...

Has Danny Woodhead played his last game as a Patriot?

Much has been made in this young NFL offseason about some of the Patriot's key free agents who are set to hit the market. Wes Welker, Aqib Talib, and Sebastian Vollmer have been the main players in the discussions about usage of the franchise tag and determining who should be brought back, for how long, and for how much. But not much has been said about fan favorite Danny Woodhead...

Former Coach Defends Talib's Work Ethic

Close friend and former coach of Aqib Talib defends Talib’s work ethic saying the story coming out from the Patriots organization “doesn’t make sense to me.” Mark Mangino coached Talib in Kansas and said Talib loved the preparation portion of practice and that he worked hard during the drills, weight lifting and mental preparation every week. Of course the news broke about...

Does Rob Gronkowski Need An Intervention?

Single dudes in their twenties, especially those with seven-figure salaries, usually like to party. I don't blame them. As a fan, I accept that. This silly notion that those who play for our favorite teams can't have social lives infuriates me. So long as he isn't breaking laws or risking his life or career, what a player does in the offseason or even on Friday nights...

Think there's any chance Cordarelle Patterson would be a good fit for the Patriots' offense, if he happened to fall that far?

Absolutely. He fits the profile of the kind of receiver they’ve lacked, and brings return...

Willie McGinest Thinks Someone Needs To Talk To Gronkowski

Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has caught some flak in the past week or so, because of video that has surfaced of Gronk partying and wrestling in Vegas with a broken forearm. No Gronk didn’t break any crimes, and it is the offseason, so he should be able to enjoy himself.  There are some who feel that Gronkowski is walking a tightrope and at some point his behavior and antics...

Report: Ryan Mallett Not Expected to Be Targeted by Browns in Trade

It appears that Ryan Mallett is going nowhere — for now. The Patriots’ third-year quarterback has been a rumored trade chip ever since he was drafted in the third round out of Arkansas in April 2011. When Mike Lombardi was hired by the Cleveland Browns, the AFC North squad became a likely landing spot for Mallett. The Browns are not expected to trade for Mallett, though, according...

The “Patriot Way” and Rob Gronkowski (Video)
