One person we haven’t heard from throughout the trade speculation has been Darrelle Revis himself. However, it appears now that we may have finally gotten the chance to see what he thinks about the potential trade that will send him to the Bucs. From Total Access: According to someone who spoke to #Jets CB Darrelle Revis recently, he’s “not optimistic” a deal with #Bucs gets done. — Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 5, 2013 While it may not be a direct quote from Revis himself, this is the most we have seen/heard of/read about from his side. His comment can mean one of three things. First, it is a tactic to lure the Buccaneers into increasing their offer to the Jets. Second, it is a move to force New York’s hand into agreeing to the Bucs offer. Or third, it can mean exactly how it reads. Surely their can be another possible reason for it, but the likelihood of it being some sort of a negotiating move fits more at this point.
