NFL News & Rumors:
Lost in the midst of the celebration yesterday afternoon in Miami, the injury suffered by All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis could have serious ramifications for the Jets going forward, as the initial prognosis seems to indicate a tear in his ACL, which would end the 2012 campaign for Revis prematurely.
An MRI scheduled for today will either confirm or deny the rumors of a season ending injury for Revis, but at the very least, the Jets will have to prepare for life without their star defensive back, as he’ll likely end up missing a sizable amount of time one way or another to avoid aggravating the injury further.
Revis, 27, was injured with about four minutes remaining in the third quarter and was carted off the field after his left leg gave way while he tried to cut back towards the ball. Revis immediately grabbed his knee as he went down to the field and covered his face in agony before being taken off the field and into the locker room.
In his sixth season, Revis has clearly established himself as one the league’s premier cover corners, totaling 294 tackles, 19 interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and three touchdowns.
