Former Oakland Raiders receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey met with the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. Although he left without a deal, he'd apparently love to play in Detroit.
"It's very appealing," Heyward-Bey said Wednesday, via mlive.com.
"Number one, (Stafford) is a great guy. I've known him since we were coming out in the draft. We worked out in Arizona together. Just the ability of him to throw the ball and how smart he is, and coach lets him do his thing back there."
"The sky's the limit," he added. "Adding Reggie (Bush) with Calvin, Matt, (Brandon) Pettigrew, (Tony) Scheffler, all these guys. You still got the vet, Nate (Burleson). You got the young guy, (Ryan) Broyles, who is coming off an injury, but still brings. It would be nice to be a part of something like that. I just got to sit back and think about it."
Heyward-Bey, who has 2,071 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons, was released by the Raiders on March 13th.

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew has made his share of mistakes. Oh hey, it’s an uneventful Wednesday in late March, so here’s an incredible video of a lamppost smashing through a bus windshield in China. Pretty remarkable that the driver survived. Would kind of like to know how this happened. If this happened in Russia, there’d be a dashcam on that bus. Anyway, I would have soiled myself 18 times if this happened to me. I’d have to drink...
