State of the Texans:
According to multiple reports,
Texans placing ILB Darryl Sharpton (hip) on IR and re-signing Mister Alexander to replace him. Sharpton loss a blow to run defense.
— John McClain (@McClain_on_NFL) January 1, 2013
With Sharpton landing on the injured reserve the Texans have brought back second year inside linebacker Mister Alexander.
Darryl Sharpton was injured last season when he had a quadricep injury that landed him on injured reserve, and was out majority of training camp and the 2012 season rehabbing his injury. Sharpton provided some much-needed depth for a depleted inside linebacking group and played well in run support.
With the playoffs coming, the Texans have suffered another blow to a defense that has been struggling of late. Tim Dobbins is also nursing a sore shoulder that is a reason for concern. Bradie James and Barrett Ruud are the only healthy inside linebackers for the Texans heading into the weekend. Could be yet a huge blow against this struggling defense.

HOUSTON -- The one thing everybody seems to "know" about Matt Schaub is that he is not quite as good as he seems.
This has come to define the Houston Texans quarterback's relationship with Houston Texans fans. Nobody thinks Schaub isn't any good at all. Everybody can remember those 4,000-yard seasons. They can pick out a handful of anecdotes to prove Schaub'...
I saw a monkey smoking a cigarette and drinking a beer in Cancun, Mexico so not much surprises me with these things. This Monkey riding a dog at the Colts game was just hilarious though. The thing is so small, yet it looks like warrior riding a horse back in the day. Just good stuff. Check out the video below. Chuck Pagano also made his return to the NFL in this game...
Texas grocery store beer display artist Roger O’Neal sent word earlier this week that his team is responsible for this masterpiece at a store in Houston. It has been two years since we first published 15 Greatest Super Bowl Grocery Pop Art/Beer Displays, and these artists still flood our inbox at this time of year.

(Eds: APNewsNow. Will be updated.) By KRISTIE RIEKEN AP Sports Writer With one mighty swat, J.J. Watt knocked down Andy Dalton's pass, intercepted it and returned it for a touchdown in last year's playoff win over Cincinnati for one of the biggest plays in Texans' history.
A year later, the second-year defensive end is one of the league's top defenders, and he'...
The Houston Texans went into the last week of the season with a chance to wrap up the #1 seed in the playoffs in the AFC and make sure that they never had to leave the confines of Reliant Stadium throughout the playoffs. All they had to do is win against the Indianapolis Colts, a divisional team that the Texans faced just 2 weeks ago and beat. The Texans couldn’t do it though,...
Arian Foster payed tribute to Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano, who was diagnosed with leukemia in September. Pagano, who has since beaten the cancer, was back on the sidelines for the Colts final regular season Sunday game against the Texans. After Foster scored a third quarter touchdown, he had a great gesture by tapping and bowing to the #Chuckstrong sign in the end...
The Houston Texans are hosting the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday to begin the NFL playoffs for the second straight year.
This time, Matt Schaub will be in the spotlight.
Schaub will make his first postseason start as the stumbling Texans try to eliminate Cincinnati in the wild-card round, a year after they did so with a third-string quarterback.
Houston's first playoff game...
LAST WEEK: 11-5
REGULAR SEASON: 168-86-1 (66%)
The Texans have been really disappointing the last few weeks, but I don't see that continuing this week. Everyone knows that Schaub has been struggling, but Dalton hasn't been too sharp either. I think his struggles will outweigh Schaub's in this playoff game. Both of these rosters are very similar...
