Signonsandiego.com has reported that the Chargers have released long snapper David Binn. This move comes as something of a surprise as Binn holds the franchise record with 201 games played. 179 of those games were consecutive. In 2007 he was named to the Pro Bowl. He has been with the team since 1994 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent. He only played in the first game last year and was injured causing him to miss the last 15. His absence was thought by many to be one of the reasons for the special teams struggles. Mike Windt will carry over as the starter after he played the final 11 games in Binn’s place. Windt had a good showing last year, but if he falters down the line this move could come back to bite the team.
