DE Michael Johnson Wants To Stay With Cincinnati Bengals

Coming off his best season with 11 1/2 sacks, Cincinnati Bengals defensive end Michael Johnson is a free agent at an opportune time. However, Johnson told NFL AM on NFL Network that he hopes to stay with the Bengals, who have made the playoffs the past two seasons. “Everything will work itself out, and I’ll be in the best situation—hopefully that’s in Cincinnati,” Johnson said. “We’ve got a good thing going. We’ve got to continue to improve, make some strides and even make more noise. We’ve done a little bit, but there’s a lot more left to do. “We’ve got a great group of young guys and I’m a part of that, and I look forward to continuing to be a part of that for many years to come.” The Bengals could decide to put the franchise tag on Johnson, allowing them to keep him for at least another season if they cannot agree on a new long-term deal.
