Leading up to yesterday’s Jets-Redskins game DeAngelo Hall called Mark Sanchez a “middle-of-the-pack” quarterback. DeAngelo should know, given the signal callers he has shared a roster with in Washington. What Hall didn’t comment on, however, was Sanchez’ fearsome blocking ability, which was on display during Shonn Green’s fourth-quarter TD run. Click the image to watch video of the play, but here’s my old soul brother MJD’s description of it for Shutdown Corner: The Jets line up here with Shonn Greene taking a direct snap and Mark Sanchez split out at wide receiver. Even if it’s not clear that Greene will be running the ball before the snap, it becomes evident soon after. “Defender” DeAngelo Hall, set to be “blocked” by Mark Sanchez, watches this all happen without even bothering to take a step towards Shonn Greene, who is even running in his direction. Either Hall couldn’t beat the extreme physica...

A Glossary of Terms Used to Describe Mark Sanchez

While it didn’t happen too much today, the following are a few terms that I’ve heard my fellow Jets fans (and myself) use to describe Mark Sanchez, usually following a pick-six or a bone-headed overthrown pass. These all-purpose words are used for nearly any football player (say, Nick Folk) when they do something that makes you want to throw the remote at the TV. However, sometimes...

The Mark Sanchez Meter: Week 13

You couldn't swing a dead cat this summer without hitting someone telling you that it was imperative that Mark Sanchez showed marked improvement as a quarterback this season. Because of that we thought we'd check in weekly to see how the Sanchize is progressing toward that goal. See how the last line of of that introduction references Mark Sanchez progressing? It might be...

New York Jets: Mark Sanchez Does It Again

The New York Jets formula for victory the past few years has been: keep the game close and wait for Mark Sanchez to make a big play or two late to carry them to a victory. It worked last year and we have seen it work the past two weeks. Yesterday Sanchez had a crisp first drive but was thoroughly average after that until the Jets received the football down by 3 late in the fourth...

Quick Hits from FedEx Field

LANDOVER, MD -- The Jets are never on schedule, but always on time. For the second straight week and the tenth time under Rex Ryan and Mark Sanchez the Jets have come from behind to steal a victory. And it doesn't stop on Sundays, it's something Jets fans have come to expect after Thanksgiving. The past two seasons the Jets have gone on a late season run to roll into the...

Sanchez, Jets come back again, top Redskins 34-19

Another shaky performance for three quarters by Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets. And then, another fourth-quarter comeback.

Pennington on Sanchez: ‘He Understands How to Win’

Sanchez has been through a lot in his three years with the Jets, no one will argue that.  But what might be understated is just how battle-tested and ready the Brian Costello spoke with Chad Pennington about Mark Sanchez, looking for his impressions of whether or not Mark is the genuine article. For all of his stumbles on the field, Sanchez has shown remarkable maturity in the face...

Inconsistent Jets Need to Straighten Up & Fly Right

The Jets squeaked one out in Landover Maryland yesterday, and while they were able to pour on points in the last five minutes, the final score was not reflective of the struggle that the game was up until that point.  The Jets, and specifically Mark Sanchez, know that they have to play better to keep their playoff chances alive.   Neil Best wrote about it for Newsday, saying that...

Jets top Skins, keep playoff hopes alive

Mark Sanchez hit Santonio Holmes for a 30-yard touchdown pass with 4:49 to play and Shonn Greene added a pair of insurance scores to give the New York Jets a 34-19 win over the Washington Redskins.

Grading Out Jets/Redskins

TOJ’s grade report for the New York Jets week 13 win over the Washington Redskins Quarterback (B) – Mark Sanchez had the kind of performance that would have the national media lavishing praise on him if he was a religious quarterback playing in Denver. It wasn’t a pretty 3 quarters but when the Jets needed a touchdown with under five minutes to play, Sanchez made...

Be happy, Jets fans; you could be Skins fans

Beloved Jets fans, we feel your angst about Mark Sanchez.

Washington Redskins vs New York Jets: Week 13 Preview

When it comes to the Redskins it’s all but impossible to predict what will happen next. Rex Grossman is always full of surprises, some good but most bad. The same thing can be said of Mark Sanchez. Both Quarterbacks have had just a tiny bit of trouble throwing the ball to, you know, the correct team. Rex Grossman and his infamous alter-ego Turnover-saurus-REX has thus far thrown...

Tom Moore Giving Keller Moore

Tight end Dustin Keller is having a career year. The favorite target of quarterback Mark Sanchez, Keller is the Jets’ top receiver, both in overall yardage (574) and in yards per game (52.2). And with five games left to play, it seems almost certain that Keller will top his previous career-high total of 687 yards, set in 2010. According to Metro, much of Keller’s success...
