Look for the Steelers to drop the hammer before March 13 on as many as four players who opened the season as starters according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. The defense that yielded the fewest total yards, total points and total yards passing will take the biggest hits all over the next few months. The Steelers are $25 million over the roughly $124 million salary cap that will go into effect March 13. That, Steelers president Art Rooney said Tuesday, will call for some tough decisions. Candidates on defense to be released and their scheduled 2012 salaries that would vanish if they are: Aaron Smith ($2.1 million), Bryant McFadden ($2.5 million), James Farrior ($2.82 million), Casey Hampton ($4.89 million), and Larry Foote ($3 million).

If Blue-collar Identity Means Running More, I Am Not Buying It
The recent report by ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen suggest that Pittsburgh Steelers president Art Rooney II did not retain offensive coordinator Bruce Arians for 2012 because Rooney wants the team to shift the offense back toward its blue-collar identity of years past. Well, what exactly does he mean by blue-collar identity? That could mean several things, run more, work...
Cortez Allen of the Steelers Talks Citadel, Shrine Game, Steelers and More
Playing well in college, attending all-star events like the Shrine Game, running at the NFL Combine, team meetings with NFL teams. It's all part of the process that hopefully leads to the NFL. While at the Shrine Game this year scouting the next crop of NFL talent, I got a chance to talk with a former Shrine Game standout and current Pittsburgh Steeler in cornerback Cortez...

The decision by Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians to retire may have been forced by the team.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported that it was a team decision to not renew the contract of Arians, who announced his retirement this week.
According to the report, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin had told Arians repeatedly during the season that his contract would...
Loss of Bruce Arians Surely to Lead to Changes Ahead for Pittsbrugh’s Offense
Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Bruce Arians announced his retirement on Friday. Arians has been with the Steelers for five seasons, winning Super Bowl XLIII and reaching Super Bowl XL.
Some sources have reported that Pittsburgh had already made up their mind to part ways with Arians before he decided to retire. Team sources told ESPN’s Chirs Mortensen that the team...
Randy Fichtner for Steelers Offensive Coordinator?
There is a lot of push coming from around Steelers Nation right now for Randy Fitchner to be the next offensive coordinator of the Steelers. I am not one of those people on that list. Not that I do not like Coach Fichtner but I want to get someone that is not on the inside. Fichtner has been a good quarterbacks coach to Ben Roethlisberger. The two have a great relationship...
Addition of WR Derrick Williams Could Prove to be Very Valuable for the Pittsburgh Steelers
The acquisition of wide receiver Derrick Williams could prove to be a very key addition to this team. The Steelers have a solid young trio of receivers who are all coming into their own; Williams could bolster this bunch with his shiftiness in the open field and big play ability that has been lacking since coming to the NFL.
Williams has the ability to return both punt and kickoff...
Settlement Reached In Civil Suit Against Ben Roethlisberger From 2008 Rape Allegation
A settlement has been reached in a civil case between Ben Roethlisberger and a woman who accused him of raping her at a Lake Tahoe Harrah’s hotel-casino in 2008. At the time, Roethlisberger was in town to participate in a celebrity golf tournament. The woman was a VIP casino hostess and claimed Roethlisberger allegedly lured [...]
Randy Fichtner Can Prove Himself Worthy of Offensive Coordinator Position at Pro Bowl
Randy Fichtner can help himself land the offensive coordinator job for the Steelers this week at the Pro Bowl. What?!?! Crazy you say. He is not even involved in the game. I know I will be able to make my decision by what I see at the Pro Bowl. Fichtner can not win the job there but in my eyes he can lose it.
Fichtner will be spending the week with Ben Roethlisberger at...
Bruce Arians announces his "retirement."
Well Steeler fans, many of you have gotten your wish. Bruce Arians announced his "retirement" from the position of offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers. I use that word lightly because there are a lot of indications that the Steelers ownership wanted a change to be made.During his tenure as OC, the team went to two Super Bowls and won one of them. He was...

I can remember how amped up I was last year at this time, as my NY Jets were about to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in the AFC championship game…(we all know how that ended) and how pumped up I was to see the Empire State Building decked in green and white….fast forward a year and the NY Giants are now about to play a huge game vs the San Fransisco 49ers and it seems like...
