I really didn’t think anyone would sign Delanie Walker other than the 49ers. Because of his specific role in their system, he was more valuable to them as a 2nd tight end than to anyone else. Apparently the Titans disagreed as they outbid the 49ers for him and will pay him like a starter, giving him 4 years, 17.5 million with 8.6 million guaranteed. He’s a very good blocker,...

Breaking News - Fresh off a trip to the Super Bowl, Delanie Walker cashes in, signing a four-year deal with the Tennessee Titans.
NFL Impact - Delanie is one of the NFL’s best blocking players. He is also a phenomenal special teams player. The 49ers used him in all types of packages and positions and he could be one of the most underrated players in the NFL when talking to the...

His signing could be a signal that Tennessee won't bring back free agent Jared Cook.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that the Titans have in fact reached agreement in a principle with free agent TE Delanie Walker on a four-year deal.
Walker was expected to draw a good deal of interest, but clearly the Titans had an aggressive plan in place as they’re already reported to have signed G Andy Levitre as well.

Per Adam Schefter, 49ers free agent tight end Delanie Walker has agreed on a contract with the Titans. The Tennessean’s Jim Wyatt reports the same.
The deal is reportedly for four years.
Though behind Vernon Davis on the depth chart, Walker was valued by the 49ers for his blocking. He also had a career-best 344 receiving yards and three touchdowns last season.
The Tennessee Titans started free agency with a bang and continue to shoot off their gun. Not only did they manage to sign the top guard in Free Agency (Andy Levitre) they also were able to sign an up and coming tight end that can not only block but possesses the speed needed to be a difference maker (Delanie Walker).

The Tennessee Titans made a big splash on the opening day of free agency, signing guard Andy Levitre, formerly of the Buffalo Bills, and tight end Delanie Walker, formerly of the San Francisco 49ers, to multi-year contracts. They also re-signed fullback Quinn Johnson.
In my analysis of the free agent guard class, I identified Levitre as "the clear best option." Apparently...
After losing Delanie Walker to the Titans and having Dashon Goldson get wined and dined by the Buccaneers, the 49ers saw their Tuesday draw to a close with losing an actual starter to another team and having his back-up set up a meeting with the same team.
Not the best first day of free agency for the 49ers.
That starter on his way out of San Francisco is nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga...
