Demarcus Robinson Contract Details

In the second half of the season when the Los Angeles Rams began to turn things around and push to the postseason, they got some big contributions from unexpected places. One of those came from veteran wide receiver Demarcus Robinson.

Robinson played in only 33 offensive snaps through the Rams’ first 10 games, but was huge down the stretch of the season and ultimately finished the season with 26 receptions for 371 yards and four touchdowns.

And now Robinson has been rewarded for his contributions as he has agreed to a one-year deal to return to the Rams in 2024.

According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the contract has a base salary of $4 million with a chance to make more:

Per a source with knowledge of the situation, the deal includes a base package of $4 million and $1 million in incentives.

He gets a $1.5 million signing bonus, to be paid by the end of April.

It is a good deal for both sides as Robinson thrived in head coach Sean McVay’s system, giving the team more of a downfield threat as he led the Rams in yards per catch. As Florio noted, Robinson’s deal includes $1 million in incentives, which are both individual and team based:

Robinson can earn another $1 million in incentives.

If he participates in 35 percent of the offensive snaps, he gets $166,666.67. If her participates in 45 percent of the offensive snaps, the amount increases to $333,333.33. If he participates in 50 percent of the offensive snaps, the amount moves to $500,00.

If the team improves its league ranking in total net offensive yards or the Rams get to the playoffs, Robinson gets another payment tied to playing percentage. For 40 percent of the snaps, he gets $166,666.67. For 50 percent of the snaps, he gets $333,333.34. If he participates in 60 percent of the snaps, he gets $500,000.

To get to $5 million, the Rams must either improve their league ranking in offensive yards or make the playoffs — and Robinson must participate in at least 60 percent of the offensive snaps.

Last season, Robinson participated in 36% of the Rams offensive snaps on the year, but it was a tale of two halves. From Week 11 through Week 16, Robinson participated in at least 59% of the Rams snaps every game before playing in only 39% in the regular season finale that meant little to the team. In the Rams’ playoff game against the Detroit Lions, Robinson was on the field for 86% of offensive snaps.

Should things continue on this path and the Rams make an offensive leap, Robinson could very well hit all of those incentives and walk away with a bit more money.

Rams tender exclusive rights free agent running back Ronnie Rivers

Another player who will be back in the fold next season is backup running back Ronnie Rivers. The Rams tendered Rivers as an exclusive rights free agent so even though his contract has expired, the running back can not negotiate with other teams.

Rivers contributed 129 rushing yards on 32 carries last season while also adding five catches for 22 yards and will have the opportunity to be the primary backup to starter Kyren Williams next season.
