The first arrest of an NFL player in 2011 has occurred in the NFL, and it involves a Denver Broncos player, RB Laurence Maroney. According to KMOV St Louis, Maroney and three other men were traveling in a vehicle which was pulled over late Monday night in the St. Louis area. Maroney, 25, is being held on unlawful weapons charges as well as drug charges. That is all which is known about the incident at this time. Maroney was a former first-round draft pick by the New England Patriots in 2006 and was acquired by the Broncos early in the season after the Broncos running game had been decimated by injuries. Maroney contributed very little to the Broncos this season, rushing for 74 yards in four games. The former University of Minnesota product has accounted for 2,504 yards and 21 touchdowns in his five year NFL career.
