Denver Broncos to Keep Productive LB for Massive 2024 Super Bowl Push
Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

Josey Jewell was a key contributor to the Denver Broncos defense during their 2023 campaign. Due to his productive numbers, there are questions about whether the team will keep his services or look in another direction regarding their LB room.

Fortunately for Jewell and fans who loved his game can rest easy as there is a positive update regarding his future with the team.

Denver Broncos to start negotiations with Josey Jewell during 2024 draft combine

Pro Football Rumors’ Sam Robinson provided exciting news for Broncos fans who loved to see Jewell play, indicating that the team wants to sign him to a longer deal by talking to his representatives during the Draft Combine.

He provides further details:

The Broncos are expected to meet with Jewell’s camp at the Combine, according to 9News’ Mike Klis. Jewell played out a two-year, $11MM deal this past season, working as a regular starter alongside Alex Singleton. Jewell, Simmons and Courtland Sutton are the only players remaining from Joseph’s HC stay. The Combine runs from Feb. 26-March 4. The Broncos retain exclusive negotiating rights with Jewell until the legal tampering period starts March 11.

Jewell was a dependable performer for Sean Payton’s Broncos through 2023. As one of the team’s top middle linebackers, he finished 2023 with three pass deflections, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries for ten yards, 3.0 sacks, and 60 solo tackles. He also had two tackles for loss and three QB hits.

Another reason why Josey Jewell will likely return to the Denver Broncos is his connections with the organization. 29-year-old has been with the team since 2018 and has been a fixture in their linebacker room. His strong relationships will given him an incentive to stay with the team for two more years.

While Jewell staying doesn’t address their lack of a proper quarterback, a capable defender should be able to help the BRoncos stand their ground against some of the AFC West’s most talented offensive playmakers.
