PLAYERS: Duke Ihenacho
TEAMS: Denver Broncos
With a record-breaking attendance of a total of 83,364 fans training camp is officially closed to the public and a lot of work has been accomplished but a lot of work has to be done. A few notable moments from Thursday’s last day of camp: Duke Ihenacho made an impressive pass breakup from Peyton Manning to Wes Welker. Rookie Kayvon Webster also had a great pass breakup in the corner of the endzone from Brock Osweiler. Derek Wolfe and Robert Ayers were able to get to Manning and he was forced to throw an incomplete pass. Champ Bailey picked off Eric Decker in the corner of the endzone. Eric Decker is picked off by Champ Bailey during the last training camp session (Photo Credit: Denver Broncos) In this year’s training camp fans were able to see Wes Welker in action and he met, possibly exceeded expectations, we will have to wait till the regular season to (hopefully) prove the latter. As of now it seems that rookie Montee Ball and Ronnie Hillman will be splitting the workload. It will be interesting to see in the regular season if they can have the same effect or who will excel over the other. Unfortunately what  coaches thought were decided spots quickly became undecided as injuries began to occur, like always, during training camp. With the loss of center Dan Koppen at this point Manny Ramirez is still filling his position. Ramirez says that him and Manning “have a pretty good understanding (of one another). We communicate; as you know, he loves to communicate a lot. So having open ears and just being willing to listen and absorb it – his knowledge.” Having Ryan Clady back in the mix after recovering from surgery on his rotator cuff should also add some more stability to Denver’s o-line and hopefully they will stay healthy.  It shouldn’t be expected to see him during the preseason but hopefully for the season opener. Hopefully fans will finally be able to see corner Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie Saturday, who had an ankle injury, however it will be a game day decision. What is left to be decided is the status of Von Miller’s recent appeal for his 4-game suspension because of a drug violation. The appeal (un)coincidentally was postponed after he was arrested Sunday because of failing to appear in court for charges that he incurred in October. He failed to appear in court in January because ESPN radio reports he was in Las Vegas. It is always disappointing to hear about players that make bad decisions that may affect their career negatively as well as their fans image of them. Hopefully this will all go away soon and he will be on the field September 5th (19 days). With training camp being closed to the public fans are only going to be able to watch the games and every football fan I’m sure doesn’t have a problem with that. The Broncos will be in Seattle Saturday to take on the Seahawks at 8PM (mdt) and they have been preparing for the crowd noise and rather than making actual game plans specific to Seattle they are simply working on making plays and taking turns according to linebacker Stewart Bradley.
