Found December 08, 2008 on New York Football Giants:
First thoughts: I was unable to watch this game. From what I have read in the New York papers, the Giants were listless in their 20-14 loss to their arch rival Philadelphia Eagles. I was wrong about the Giants winning this game. Last week, I thought they were going to lose at Washington. After playing at a high level for seven consecutive weeks, yesterday, the Giants had a contraction. Yes, the Giants did not play well and the Eagles team especially Head Coach Andy Reid deserve much credit. The Eagles outplayed the Giants. I have stated here, in my opinion, Brian Westbrook is the best running back in the NFL. McNabb was super too. I was wrong about Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Johnson. With Jacobs out, the Eagles were able to hold the Giants to 88 yards rushing. Jacobs had 52 yards on 10 carries before leaving the game with a nicked knee. In previous seasons, Johnson had better personal. With a smaller and lighter defensive line, the Eagles were able to contain the Giants running game. I think he should be lauded for stopping the Giants offense. In addition, from what I read, Eli looked like the Old Eli. Battling windy conditions, Eli struggled once again at the Meadowlands. Two years ago, he played okay against the Bucs at a windy Giants Stadium. Last year playing Washington at home dealing with the wind and inclement conditions, Eli was awful throwing 34 incompletions. What troubles me about the MSM (main stream media) and our society as a whole, we assign, blame, and label to come up with reasons when an outcome is not what we intended. I think it is nonsense to exclaim the Plaxico distraction was the reason the Giants lost. What troubles me is the Giants gave the Eagles life. As I stated in my Saturday post, the Giants continue their trend of not putting the Eagles away. Look for the Eagles to make the playoffs. I want to get back to Eagles Head Coach Andy Reid. Over the last few weeks, Reid has been vilified by the Philadelphia media. I thought ridiculing Reid was laughable. I think Reid is one of the top coaches in the NFL. Yesterday, Reid showed his conspirators he still is an excellent coach. Update: As I am typing this post, WFAN's Mike Francesa is validating what I am writing here. Giant fans do not panic. With Dallas losing to Pittsburgh, the Giants are the 2008 NFC East Champions. Congratulations Giants!!!
