Philadelphia sports fans breathed a collective sigh of relief when it was announced on Sunday that OG Evan Mathis signed a 5-year deal with the Eagles. A bidding war for Mathis broke out between Philadelphia and Baltimore, which the offensive lineman saying that he received an offer for a “nice deal” from the Ravens. Then the Eagles shot back what was said to be a “competitive” offer, and then we all had to sit back. The rest was in Mathis’ hands. And he decided to stay with the team where he had, by far, the best year of his career. It seems that Philadelphia offered a nice deal of their own for Mathis. Per, Mathis signed a deal for $25.5 million over 5 years, with $7 million guaranteed. Mathis will speak with the media tomorrow about his new deal and extended stay with Philadelphia.
