The Detroit Lions 3-year relationship with their 2010 first round draft pick came to a sad end yesterday, as the team released often concussed running back Jahvid Best. "Jahvid is as fine a person and professional as I have ever worked with," Martin Mayhew, the Lions' Axecutive VP of football operations and GM, said in a statement, via NFL.com. "He was the consummate teammate and always did everything asked of him." The promising career of Best hit a big snag when he missed most of the 2011 season, 10 games to be exact, due to concussion symptons, after a stellar rookie season with 1,042 yards from scrimmage, 58 catches and six touchdowns. The concussion symptons lingered on into 2012, where he missed the whole season entirely. He leaves Detroit with an uncertain future, although there hasn't been any talk of retirement just yet. "My time as a member of the Lions was a very special time in my life," Best said in the joint statement with the team. "My teammates, the members of the organization, the Lions fans and the people of Detroit will hold a special place in my heart. I'll always be a Lion."
