The Detroit Lions finished the 2012 season with a 4-12 record, and ended the year on an 8-game losing streak. This offseason, the Lions brought in a lot of talented players, including running back Reggie Bush, defensive end Jason Jones, safety Glover Quinn, defensive tackle CJ Mosley, and kickers David Akers and Havard Rugland. To make room for these new players, Detroit had to let some talented players go as well. These players include defensive linemen Kyle Vanden Bosch, Cliff Avril and Sammie Hill, and offensive linemen Gosder Cherilus and Steven Peterman. After a very disappointing 2012 year, head coach Jim Schwartz’s seat is getting very hot. The Lions will need to have a good 2013 season if he wants to keep his job. Here is the Lions 2013-2014 season preview. Offense The Lions put up some pretty solid offensive statistics in 2012, finishing 2nd in the league in pass yards per game and 23rd in the league in rush yards per game. These numbers can be a little deceiving however, ...

Detroit Lions’ Martin Mayhew is at it again

Detroit Lions General Manager Martin Mayhew is snatching up free agents at a pace that sometimes seems a little scary.  During the Cleveland game and in its immediate wake, Jim Schwartz was handed four new players and the shopping spree may not be over yet, with the hours-ago signing of OT Kevin Haslam.  Whether these acquisitions are meant as a warning to those current players...

Reggie “Where is your Loyalty” Bush

There is no doubt that running back Reggie Bush is a phenomenal athlete. His speed and agility is far beyond what most coaches consider an average NFL player; but will histalents get him in the Hall of Fame.  Probably not because this guy has not loyalty, he’s selfish and it all about him.  He gotdrafted by the New Orleans Saints which was perfect system for him because...

Lions coach Schwartz focuses on few bright spots

Given a couple days to cool down after Detroit's lackluster performance in Cleveland, Lions coach Jim Schwartz was ready to move on and focus on the few bright spots. Getting All-Pro receiver Calvin Johnson back on the practice field and adding three veteran defensive players to the roster helped further brighten the mood on a sunny afternoon at the team's training facility...

Detroit Lions 2013: Most Overrated and Underrated Players

When we think of underrated and overrated players on a football team, we tend to search for the quarterback or the player who just got the new contract after one year of stellar play. We never think of the backup guard or the third-down pass rusher. And we never think of the coach. This might be one of those articles where a case can be made for a coach hanging on too long and doing...

Ndamukong Suh Says He’s Ready to Take Down Tom Brady

The Patriots better be careful when the play the Lions this week. Here is what SUH had to say about Tommy Uggs. “I’ve been fortunate enough to come across his path many times on the field and off the field,” Suh said Sunday. “He’s a good dude. I like him. “He’s a real tough competitor. Just a classy dude all around. I respect him. Any time you can take a future Hall...

Lions bringing in veteran players after poor game

APNewsNow. Jim Schwartz insists that he's not trying to send any of his players a message. That's not going to stop him from bringing in veteran players, though. After bringing in four defenders in the wake of a poor performance Thursday in Cleveland, the Lions signed offensive tackle Kevin Haslem, who has played 10 games in a three-year career. Now on his fifth NFL team...

Lions add Bannan, McIntosh and Mathis

The Detroit Lions are clearly not content with their depth on defense. In the last couple days, the Lions have added three defensive players a tackle, a linebacker and a cornerback with a combined total of 28 years of NFL experience. The newcomers include tackle Justin Bannan (6-foot-3, 305 pounds), linebacker Rocky McIntosh (6-2, 235) and cornerback Rashean Mathis (6-1, 200...

Lions relying on veteran presence to aid defense

The Lions have looked like anything but a solid team this preseason, and it has irked head coach Jim Schwartz. Although some, including yours truly, have criticized the talent that has been assembled in Detroit, the Lions are still trying to better themselves. Since the Lions were outplayed in every way by the Cleveland Browns, the team has added three veteran defensive players...

Ndamukong Suh: I’m Ready to Take Down Tom Brady

Even though it is just the preseason, I think it would be foolish for a team to not take Ndamukong Suh seriously any and every time he steps onto the football field. The Lions take on the Patriots this Thursday during Week 3 of the preseason and the defensive tackle is looking forward to the […]

First Down, Fourth Down: Lions Struggle Against Browns

It was another unimpressive outing for the Detroit Lions in the preseason, falling to the Cleveland Browns 24-6 in a sloppy performance. First Down: Reggie Bush Bush was brought into the Lions organization as a replacement for Jahvid Best and potential game changer. While he didn’t change the game last night, he was the only serviceable part of the offense. Carrying the ball eight...
