Detroit Lions Announce Roster Move ahead of Chargers Game

The Detroit Lions announced on Saturday afternoon roster decisions ahead of their Week 10 road contest against the Los Angeles Chargers. 

It was announced that long-snapper Jake McQuaide was elevated from the team's practice squad. 

McQuaide, 35, is a 12-year NFL veteran who has had previous stints with the Rams and Cowboys before arriving in Motown in the spring. 

"He’s gotten better," Campbell explained to reporters. "His speed of his snaps, location, getting out of his stance and protection are, like it’s showing up."

The veteran played collegiately at Ohio State and joined the Rams after going undrafted in 2011. 

Last season, McQuaide was forced to miss the season a large portion of the Cowboys season after suffering a torn triceps injury. 

During training camp, Scott Daly won the battle to be the teams long-snapper, but is now currently on the injured reserve list, paving the way for the veteran to resume his NFL career. 

"He’s been a steady rock for us and he’s improved every year. He’s having the best year that we’ve had. So it hurts," Dan Campbell said about losing Daly. "It’s going to hurt to lose him. He’s been really good for us. We’ll figure all of that out and we’ll move forward.”

The veteran long-snapper still felt he could contribute to a team, if given the opportunity. 

"I don’t want to retire if I still think I have game in me and I still feel like I have a lot of game left," McQuaide explained during training camp.
