Detroit Lions (2-3) at Chicago Bears (4-1) This week, I put the Bears 1st in my Power Rankings. With the exception of the Thursday Night loss to Green Bay, the Bears have looked great this season, winning every game by 16 or more and only surrendering 7 sacks in 4 games. While you can’t completely ignore what happened on Thursday Night Football, it’s unreasonable to put too much stock into one game when a team has had 3 days to prepare on the road. In their other 4 games, with the exception of Jacksonville, who they destroyed in Jacksonville in a potential trap game, they’ve played good opponents. Dallas should be a playoff contender right until the very end. They beat them by 16 in Dallas. Blowout wins over Indianapolis and St. Louis didn’t look impressive at the time, but now they do. Jay Cutler is now 9-1 in his last 10 games, including 22-10 dating back to 2010, including the 2 postseason games that year. Every year, one team goes from out of the playoffs to a first round bye. A...

Brandon Marshall: Jay Cutler please don't change

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall thinks the media has the wrong impression of quarterback Jay Cutler.Marshall, who also played with Cutler in Denver from 2006-08, doesn't want his quarterback to ever change."I don't think him being fiery or being passionate or wanting to win is misunderstood but the part of maybe him not being a good teammate -- that part...

Hester To Be More Involved?

Get ready for the ‘Hester Package’ Juan…With Alshon Jeffery out for a few more weeks, we could see more Hester than we originally thought.  The Bears seem to have more confidence then I do in the KR/WR.  I think Hester could be used in some gadget plays and sparingly throughout the game, but his value is tied to punt and kick returns.  Hester is the best returner in the...

Bears, Lions downplay any ill will

Hard feelings? Bad blood? The Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions for the most part did their best to downplay the idea leading into their game on Monday night. It wasn't exactly an easy sell. The way emotions boiled over the last time they met at Soldier Field, it's safe to wonder if sparks might fly this time, too. If they do, players and coaches insisted it'll be because...

Bear Breakdown: Analyzing the Lions’ Defense For Week Seven

When a team can put up the sort of offensive numbers that the Detroit Lions can, it is easy to ignore what they do defensively. So far in the 2012 season, the Lions defense is giving up an average of 324 yards of total offense, good enough for ninth best in the league. The strength of the Lions’ defense lies in its front four.  Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is still a terror...

Lions DT Ndamukong Suh Made First 911 Call After Incident Last Week

It appears Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh did the right thing after all by making the first call to 911 when he was involved in a two-car incident last week on the Southfield Freeway. Suh called 911 at 6:28 a.m. Oct. 11 after the Range Rover he was driving collided with the 1999 Ford Escort that Stephen Vines, 43, of Livonia was driving. Vines called 911 at 6:29 a...

Bears WR/KR Devin Hester Probable For Lions Game; WR Alshon Jeffery Out

Bears coach Lovie Smith said wide receiver/kick returner Devin Hester, bothered by a sore quad, is probable for Monday night's game against the Lions at Soldier Field. With the Redskins and Bills being fined $20,000 each this week for violating the league's rules on injury reports, Smith almost literally read from the script after practice Saturday. ''We've...

Lions Brace for Bears' RB Forte

If one was struggling to locate a list of top running backs in the NFL they would only need to review the Detroit Lions schedule -- making the task of stopping Monday night's opposing running back Matt Forte a challenge, but not necessarily foreign.
