The Detroit Lions returned to the practice field Wednesday to prepare for their Wild Card showdown with the Los Angeles Rams.

Among those not participating in the portion of practice open to the media were tight end Sam Laporta, wide receiver Kalif Raymond and offensive linemen Taylor Decker, Frank Ragnow and Graham Glasgow. All three linemen were given rest days last week.

Though LaPorta did not practice, he was a participant in the team's morning walkthrough.

Dan Campbell has provided encouraging updates regarding LaPorta and said the team would know more about his status on Friday.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams and tight end Brock Wright both returned to practice after missing all of last week. Williams did not play last week, while Wright has missed the last three games.

The Lions will be tasked with slowing down the Rams' offense. Under offensive-minded Sean McVay, the Rams will throw plenty of unique looks at the Lions defense.

Remaining disciplined and sticking to the defensive keys taught by coordinator Aaron Glenn will be key to the Lions' success.

"I know for us, the challenge with it is really not what it does to you defensively from a schematic standpoint," Campbell explained. "It's more about the eye-candy of it. If you just stay true to your rules and understand who's got that motion, who's got this turbo motion and play your rules and don't let those things, don't start chasing the butterflies.

"Just, you stay focused on your responsibility, your keys. Because one step the wrong way with that motion and all of a sudden we lose a support player and that's where they get you. Because this back (Rams RB Kyren Williams) is patient and when he sees it, he's able to make the cut."
