The handshake provided no fanfare. The coaches, John Harbaugh and Jim Shwartz, provided pleasantries and exited the field. The general result of San Francisco’s 27-19 win surprised no one. Yet, the dismantling of the Lions staggered a few.The 49ers claimed supremacy of the NFL by wrecking two of the most prolific offenses in the league during consecutive weeks (surprise?). Here’s what we learned from this game:1. The integrity of the league is at stake. Teams will continue to play and fans will continue to play, but the product is failing. Week 2 has been worse than the first with officials missing calls crucial to points being scored while watching flags fly and whistles scream with doubt. A better solution must be made at once.2. The result of the game attests to the superiority of the San Francisco 49ers, not the diminishing talent of the Detroit Lions. Though they’re fighting the injury bug, the Lions will evoke fear from the rest of their schedule. Matthew Stafford and Calvin Jo...

Harbaugh finds new ways to motivate unbeaten 49ers

Jim Harbaugh considers Muhammad Ali the most competitive athlete of all time - in anything. Harbaugh got so giddy hearing his father's stories of recently spending a Ravens practice alongside Ali in Baltimore, San Francisco's coach shared it all with his players at the first possible chance. That was last Tuesday. Five days later, the 49ers (2-0) dominated the Detroit Lions...

Video: Guy in hoodie videobombs 49ers quarterback Alex Smith

The San Francisco 49ers beat the visiting Detroit Lions by a score of 27-19 Sunday night. San Francisco QB Alex Smith had a real nice performance as evidenced by his 226-yard, two touchdown stat line. His post-game interview, on the other hand, didn't look quite as nice. That's because of the super creepy guy standing behind Smith during most of it. The man, who appeared...

Jim Harbaugh says the Lions like to hit late

Before tonight’s game between the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions, NBC’s Michelle Tafoya spoke with 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh and he told her that he told his players to keep their heads on a swivel during tonight’s game, since the Lions are a “chippy bunch” and a “late hit bunch.” The Lions do love to hit late, no one will ever forget Ndamukong Suh’s ...

Detroit Lions vs. San Francisco 49ers: Hero and Zero of the Game

Before the opening kickoff Sunday night at Candlestick Park, head coaches Jim Harbaugh and Jim Schwartz met on the gridiron for first time since 49ers' (2-0) 25-19 comeback win in Motor City over the Lions' (1-1) week six last season. There was no cheek-kiss, no high-five, not even a fist-bump between the two. That was the plan. It was a cordial, light-hearted handshake...

Suh buys fellow defensive linemen recliners

Soon after Ndamukong Suh became a Detroit Lion, there arrived a giant scarlet (University of Nebraska) red recliner in the defensive meeting room.  That was three years ago.  Before last week, Suh was still the only defensive lineman in the Lions locker room that could sit back and relax in a big comfy chair. The Lions other D-linemen were stuck with “stiff office chairs” in...

49ers shake off Lions -- with no handshake controversy

SAN FRANCISCO -- One season later, there was far less drama but the same result when the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions met in a rematch Sunday night at Candlestick Park. Quarterback Alex Smith threw for 226 yards and two touchdowns, both to tight end Vernon Davis, leading the 49ers to a 27-19 victory. When the 49ers faced Detroit last year in Week 6, they had to come...

LoLo Jones to Ndamukong Suh: Lets just be friends

"Lets just be friends." Are there any four words men least want to hear from a hot prospect? Olympian hurdler and virgin princess Lori "LoLo" Jones denied reports by gossip sites that paired her with Detroit Lions DT Ndamukong Suh.
